Daniela Lapidous, LMSW
Staff Therapist
She/Her
Daniela is a queer, first-generation American and holds a BA from Columbia University and an MSW from Hunter College’s Silberman School of Social Work. She creates a warm, non-judgemental environment for therapy and believes in building on strengths and recognizing the many impacts of structural challenges and oppression.
Daniela believes that therapy can equip folks with concrete tools to navigate present-day challenges with more ease, drawing on modalities including acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical-behavioral therapy (DBT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Daniela also works with clients to explore and shift the deeper, long-standing patterns that influence our relationships, self-understanding, and experience of the ups and downs of life. She uses a trauma-informed psychodynamic approach, including emotion-focused therapy, parts work, and other approaches in collaboration with the client.
Daniela’s areas of focus include: anxiety and panic disorders; obsessive-compulsive disorder; depression; trauma; grief and loss; and navigating life transitions. She is eager to work with clients from all walks of life, and extends a special welcome to the LGBTQIA+ community and adult children of immigrants. Daniela is also able to conduct therapy in Russian.
Before practicing psychotherapy, Daniela worked as an organizer for diverse advocacy coalitions for climate justice.
