Andrea Alives-Torres, LMHC-LP

Staff Therapist

She/Her

Andrea is a bilingual (Spanish and English) therapist whose work is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and curiosity. She is currently taking on new clients who are seeking in-person, virtual, or hybrid therapy. Working with Andrea, you will find she draws from a variety of modalities to fit your needs, such as relational therapy, CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, and a knowledge of neuropsychological systems. For Andrea, flexibility is important, because your goals and needs may change over time.

A background in Education informs the techniques Andrea uses in session, such as containment, flexibility, and providing structure. Her first focus is to learn about your experience, and to work with you to find the obstacles keeping you from meeting your goals. In your work together, you will build a relationship that enables you to collaborate in learning how your perspective can guide treatment.

Some of the experiences that have shaped Andrea’s approach to therapy include working with male, female, and nonbinary survivors of sexual trauma in individual and group settings. She has also worked with Latinx clients looking for a provider who is culturally-informed and can offer sessions in Spanish, or in Spanglish! Additionally, Andrea was previously part of a team of community mental health providers. She provides therapy to clients ranging from ages 4 to late 70s.
As your therapist, Andrea will work with you to identify how she can challenge you in ways that feel supportive and nonjudgmental. She will support you in exploring the realistic changes that can be made to transform the behaviors and patterns you’d like to be different. Working from a trauma-informed lens, Andrea’s approach considers we’ve all been through experiences that shape us, and determine how we show up in our relationships and environments.
