Based in New York City, Kalvin C. Leveille Jr. has served as a Public Health Professional and HIV/AIDS Advocate for over 15 years. His goal is to create and advance opportunities towards better health outcomes for LGBTQ+ People of Color (POC) and People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWH). In 2019, after serving as the Director of Business Development & Community Engagement at Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC), he joined the New York State Dept. of Health’s AIDS Institute (AI) as a Health Program Coordinator in the Office of Planning & Community Affairs (OPCA). In 2022, his role transitioned into the Office of Drug User Health (ODUH) to focus on leading the development and implementation for a coordinated response to address the harmful impact methamphetamine use (crystal meth) continues to have on Black same gender loving (SGL) men.

As an award-winning HIV/AIDS advocate, Kalvin has been featured on many local and national public health media campaigns, such as U=U (Undetectable Equals Untransmittable) and I Am More Than My Status. Additionally, as a national health educator for Love Heals: The Alison Gertz Foundation from 2010 to 2018, he’s delivered over 100 presentations to over 50,000 individuals. His accomplishments and contributions have been recognized by countless media outlets, such as MetroSource, The Grio, TheBody, NY Daily News, The National Action Network, The NYC Center for Black Pride, etc.

Prior to earning a master's in Healthcare Administration in 2018 from Columbia University, Kalvin earned a bachelor’s in Communication Arts in 2008 from St. John’s University. Currently, he is pursuing his second master's in Mental Health Counseling from CUNY’s Hunter College, which he maintains a 4.0 GPA. In August 2023, he successfully completed his mental health counseling practicum role at The SUNY Downstate Medical Center. In September 2023, Kalvin will begin his advanced clinical internship role at The Institute of Human Identity (IHI) Therapy Center.

Kalvin adopts a post-modern theoretical framework. Using approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and solution focused therapy, he works collaboratively with clients to explore relationships between thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors. Using psychotherapy, he helps clients achieve a deeper understanding of themselves. Ultimately, his goal is to create a therapeutic experience that is holistic, safe, and strength-based towards the discovery of attainable goals.
