Em Finch, MA, LMSW-LP

Staff Therapist

They/Them

Em is a native New Yorker, mental health researcher, and
social work psychotherapist focused on serving LGBTQ communities. In
their practice, Em uses what’s known as eclectic psychotherapy to
collaboratively develop and implement unique treatment plans with the
client’s goals, feedback, and lived experience centered every step of
the way. They often use techniques and interventions based in
psychodynamic theories, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT),
person-centered therapy, and trauma-informed affirmative care,
including mindfulness-based therapies and somatic techniques that
emphasize the mind-body connection. Em’s approach is additionally
infused with the strengths-based perspective, cultural humility,
critical race theory, and anti-capitalism, and they are passionate
about incorporating sociopolitical contexts and social justice values
into the therapeutic work at every turn.

Em is passionate about working with folks from all walks of life.
Their clinical areas of focus include: transgender and gender
expansive identities and experiences; disability and chronic illness;
substance misuse and harm reduction; post-traumatic stress, relational
trauma, and medical trauma; depression, anxiety, mood disorders and
personality disorders; adults living with autism and/or ADHD.
